News and Updates
Our apologies for not getting back to everyone - we will so please bare with us.
With more than just a little help from The Wessex Rivers Trust we have been racing to finish substantial bank work in time for the season.
One of the Test's best kept secrets...
The Testcombe Beat

Our beat begins from bridge by the famous Mayfly Pub and now incorporates both banks up to the village of Chilbolton.
Steeped in history this stretch offers fly fishing for every level of angler. Double-banked wide fast water, deep pools and wilder carriers will appeal and challenge the more experienced.
The banks surrounding our famous fishing hut are ideal for lessons and those just starting out.

Split into separate beats - depending on party size - the focal point for all fishing the water is the Grade 2 listed fishing hut situated on the home beat.
Built by the Disraeli family in 1888 as a pavilion to a tennis court it is the perfect base for exploring this extraordinary part of the River Test.

History
The jewel in the crown for this iconic stretch of water is the Grade 2 listed fishing hut - the inspiration for books and featured in many television show.

Built by the Disraeli family in 1888 as a pavilion to a tennis court it is the perfect base for exploring this extraordinary part of the River Test.
Moving down stream towards the lower beat you pass by the 18th century boathouse to 'King's Gate' by the old railway line - now the Test Way. It was at this spot that the royal carriage would stop in the morning and get pushed into the sidings at Fullerton station. King George VI used the gate to fish Testcombe and the Royal carriage would be hooked back up after the evening rise to take him back to London.
Brown Trout
Fed by a spring at its source, the River Test filtered by chalk is the perfect habitat for this native species.
Our season starts on 6th April and runs until the end of October. The much sought after 'duffers' Mayfly hatch is truly a site to behold with the water bubbling with activity
Corporate and Events
The main island at Testcombe is a truly stunning place to be. With a unique and beautiful grade 2 listed fishing hut at its centre we are pleased to be able to offer the main island for all manner of events - it has been used for TV shows, coaching days, weddings and catered lunches.
